We actively develop, acquire, and market wound care products that exhibit innovative technologies, empower caregivers, and focus on the unmet needs of patients. As the science underlying the issues of chronic wounds advances, our goal is to be a leader in the development of active therapies.

Several significant new advanced wound care products offer unique therapeutic opportunities: MEDIHONEY®, BIOGUARD™, XTRASORB™ and ALGICELL™ Ag.

MEDIHONEY® Active Leptospermum Honey dressings:
MEDIHONEY® is the global leading medical-grade honey-based product for the management of wounds and burns. These unique dressings contain Active Leptospermum Honey, a unique honey from New Zealand that has beneficial plant-derived properties. The dressings can be used in all phases of wound healing and could be considered a key dressing in any wound bed preparation protocol. MEDIHONEY® dressings have been shown in several large randomized controlled studies to be effective on hard-to-heal wounds. The line consists of various patented dressings that can manage a wide variety of wound types in a wide variety of settings.
BIOGUARD™ Barrier dressings:
BIOGUARD™ Barrier dressings comprise a novel line of cost-effective, active dressings that can be used as a component of a facility’s overall infection prevention program. The dressings have been shown to provide a barrier to bacterial penetration, and exhibit >5 log (99.999%) kill of a broad spectrum of pathogens including MRSA. The activity of the dressings starts almost immediately, and is long lasting. These patented dressings are unique in that the active can not detach from the dressing (non-leaching antimicrobial). This novel feature ensures that prophylactic widespread use of BIOGUARD™ dressings will not lead to the formation of resistant strains of bacteria.
XTRASORB™ Super Absorbent dressings:
XTRASORB™ dressings rely on a super absorbent polymer (SAP) technology to dramatically increase their absorption and retention capacities compared to typical highly absorbent dressings. The SAP within XTRASORB™ dressings converts to a gel as wound fluid is absorbed. This allows the dressings to take in more fluid than other dressings, and also to retain that fluid – even under compression. These features allow for fewer dressings changes, and can reduce the risk of maceration.
ALGICELL® Ag antimicrobial silver alginate dressing:
ALGICELL® Ag delivers 1.4% ionic silver at a slow consistent release rate for strong broad-spectrum efficacy over a 7-day period, has an optimal gelling profile, and superior absorption. Cost-effective pricing ensures clinicians that utilizing ALGICELL® Ag as their silver antimicrobial dressings of choice will lead to optimal outcomes while reducing expenses.
